To provide a cylinder drive unit of simple and compact structure capable of accurately controlling the rod position even in the case wherein noload is applied to an actuator cylinder.
There are assembled in the same unit an air tank, when an oil pressure supply device sucks operating fluid from one of a piston head side cylinder chamber and a rod side cylinder chamber of an actuator cylinder, for supplying air to the other cylinder chamber and for housing the air discharged from the other cylinder chamber when the operating fluid is supplied to the one cylinder chamber, an air pump for pressurizing the air in the air tank, and a pressure control valve for controlling the pressure inside the air tank to a predetermined upper limit pressure or less. The air pump is driven by supply and discharge of the operating fluid by the oil pressure supply device.
