The cylinder injection internal combustion engine has a fuel injection valve 6 directly injecting fuel J into a combustion chamber, and the plurality of ignition plugs 7A, 7B. The top of a piston 3 is provided with: a projection with which the fuel injected from the fuel injection valve positioned, for example, around the center of the combustion chamber is collided; and a plurality of cavities 33A, 33B disposed to each of the ignition plugs 7A, 7B positioned, for example, near side walls of the combustion chamber so that the fuel J, which has been collided with the projection 34 and split into flows to be guided to each of the ignition plugs 7A, 7B.
