Abstract:

To provide a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine capable of executing fuel injection in an initial stage of an intake stroke while favorably restricting deterioration of exhaust emissions.

A partition wall 30 is formed to cover an outer edge of an opening 16a of an intake port 16 on the side adjacent to a fuel injection port 22 in a fuel injection valve 21. An opening part 31 is formed at an adjacent part of the partition wall 30 to the fuel injection port 22. As an intake valve 18 is opened, therefore, part of intake introduced from the intake port 16 to a combustion chamber 15 is directed to be concentrated to a fuel injection chamber 15. Atomization, vaporization, and mixing of fuel with air in initial stages of intake strokes are accelerated.
