Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder injection type spark ignition engine internal combustion engine which can enlarge the stratified combustion range on the high speed side.
SOLUTION: A cylinder injection type spark ignition engine internal combustion engine includes a spark plug 6, a cavity formed in the top surface of a piston, and a fuel injection valve 7 for injecting fuel into the cavity in a relative thin sector-like form. A side wall 8b of the cavity, which faces the fuel injection valve 7 for guiding the fuel to a position in the vicinity of the spark plug 6 has a substantially symmetric horizontal arcuate shape with respect to a first vertical plane N1 which is distant from the center vertical plane Nc of the fuel, and which is substantially parallel with the plane Nc.
