Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an internal combustion engine cylinder having a cylinder sleeve face which is partly high in scarfing resistance to a piston ring and partly low in aggressiveness to a piston skirt portion and its manufacture.
CONSTITUTION: An internal combustion engine cylinder 1 has a fiber reinforced metallic cylinder sleeve 4 in which an upper part where a piston ring 5 slides is made high in hardness and a lower part where the piston ring 5 does not slide is made low in hardness.
