Abstract:

To provide a cylinder liner enveloped casting method capable of improving the anchoring effect of an outer circumferential part of a cylinder liner and miniaturizing a cylinder block.

This cylinder liner enveloped casting method comprises a step of manufacturing an aluminum-based composite billet, a step of forming the aluminum-based composite billet into a cylinder and forming a rib on an outer surface of the cylinder, a drawing step of compressing the rib from tip sides thereof to form an undercut shape at the root of the rib, a cutting step of cutting a drawn member to form a cylinder liner, and a casting step of setting the cylinder liner in a mold of the cylinder block and pouring the molten metal therein. Since the rib is compressed from the tip side to form the undercut shape at the root in the drawing step, the stress is not concentrated at a corner of the root, and cracks of the root part can be prevented. Since the rib is compressed, the rib is reduced in height, and the cylinder liners can be brought close to each other accordingly, and the cylinder block can be miniaturized thereby.
