Title:
CYLINDER LINER HAVING SURFACE-TREATED FILM ON INNER PERIPHERAL FACE AND PROCESSING METHOD THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003286895
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a cylinder liner for an internal combustion engine in which a steam-treated film is formed on its inner peripheral face, the film surface has an oil sump that is effective for a lubricating function, and which is excellent in initial adaptability and has a shape for easy finish processing.

The steam-treated film is ground by using a grinding wheel in which diamond abrasive grains in grain sizes of 4,000 or more are metal- bonded with a higher concentration ratio in a honing machine. The film surface is finished into a plateau shape with surface roughness Rz: 0.8-5.9 μm, initial wear height on the basis of DIN4776 standard Rpk: 0.6-4 μm or less, effective load roughness Rk: 0.05-1.8 μm, and oil sump depth (Rvk): 0.15-3.3 μm.
