Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a best possible junction of a cylinder liner with surrounding molding when casting the cylinder liner.
SOLUTION: The cylinder liner 1 is provided on its outer periphery 4 an activation layer 5 in an area corresponding to a top dead center area 3 of a piston ring of a piston guided within the liner 1, and further has a coarse surface on the periphery 4 which furthermore follows the top dead center area 3. The activation layer 5 comprises material which carries out metallic bond to the molding by a thermal effect of liquefied casting material more quickly than liner material.
