PURPOSE: To prevent the lubricating oil left in an oil basin from flowing into a cylinder during non-lubricating period, and prevent the wasteful consumption of the lubricating oil, in a one for lubricating the cylinder front the oil basin through a lubricating hole, by situating the opening to the cylinder of the lubricating hole above the basin.
CONSTITUTION: In a cylinder lubricating device for large-sized diesel engine, a lubricating bar 7 is screwed to the outer wall of a cylinder liner 4 through a packing 12, and a check valve 20 for opening and closing a feed hole 5 is integrated into the lubricating bar 7. An oil basin 11 is partitioned in the cylinder liner 4 by the inner end surface of the lubricating bar 7, and a plurality of lubricating holes 51-53 extending from the oil basin 11 toward the cylinder inner surface 4a are bored. These lubricating holes 51-53 are radially bored obliquely upward from the oil basin 11 so that the openings 51a-53a are situated above the oil basin 11. In non-lubricating period, thus, the lubricating oil left in the oil basin 11 is prevented from flowing into the cylinder.
