Title:
CYLINDER STRUCTURE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2785564
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To secure required surface pressure during hot time without applying excessive initial surface pressure to a seal member on an upper end of a cylinder liner during cold time, in a cylinder structure of an internal combustion engine which is suitably applied to a mono-block type internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: An upper gasket 13 is sandwiched between an upper end 12b of a liner 12 and a mono block 11. A flange 12c is formed on a lower end of the liner 12, while a lower gasket 14 is provided on the upper surface of the flange 12c. The upper and lower gaskets 13, 14 are parallelly arranged so as to be simultaneously compressed, when the liner 12 is displaced to the side of a combustion chamber 17 by means of a fastening bolt 15, by the same rate as that of displacement. A spring constant (b) of the lower gasket 14 in an axial direction (Z1-Z2 direction) is made smaller than a spring constant (a) of the upper gasket 13 in the same direction, to satisfy an equation (a)>(b).
