PURPOSE: To give a cylindrical body prepared with a fiber-reinforced resin having appropriate breaking elongation, high specific strength, excellent corrosion resistance and good formability, by using twisted cord-like continuous filaments prepared by twisting multi-numbers of continuous filaments as a part or all of the reinforcing fiber.
CONSTITUTION: Both linear continuous filaments 1 and twisted cord-like continuous filaments 2 are oriented toward the longitudinal direction of the cylindrical body and filled in a synthetic resin 3 under the condition where a little tensile stress is being applied on these filaments. The ratio of the reinforcing fibers in the cylindrical body is in the range of 20W70vol%. The ratio of the continuous filaments 1 to the twisted cord-like continuous filaments 2 re in such a range that the twisted cord-like continuous filaments 2 occupies 20W100vol% because appropriate breaking elongation can not be obtained when the content of the twisted cord-like continuous filaments becomes small. Especially, a cylindrical body containing such high modulus fibers as carbon fiber as the reinforcing fibers and 60W70vol% of these fibers shows elasticity, breaking strength and elongation similar to those for the cylindrical steel.
