Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support device and a support method capable of supporting a cylindrical body containing a ceramic raw material without rupture or buckling of the cylindrical body at a time of firing the cylindrical body.SOLUTION: A cylindrical body support device includes: a suspension mechanism that includes a suspension stage configured to be engageable with one end of at least one cylindrical body; a lifting mechanism that includes a lifting stage configured to be able to approach the other end of the at least one cylindrical body from below; a load sensor configured to be able to measure a load acting on one of or each of the suspension stage and the lifting stage from the at least one cylindrical body; and a control device configured to adjust a vertical position of at least one of the suspension stage and the lifting stage on the basis of a measuring result of the load sensor so that the load from the at least one cylindrical body acts on each of the suspension stage and the lifting stage.
