Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance rigid, self-shape retention properties and to impart desirable transmitting/receiving characteristics to a hydrophone, etc., by forming a platelike piezoelectric element in which a porous sheetlike electrode is buried in a surface layer of a polymer piezoelectric film in a cylindrical shape to form a cylindrical piezoelectric element.
CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical piezoelectric element 50a to be used for a transceiver of a hydrophone, a microphone, etc., for a towing sonar to be towed under water by a towboat such as a ship, etc., is composed by winding a platelike piezoelectric element 10 in which porous sheetlike electrodes 2 (2a, 2b) are buried in surface layers of both side surfaces of a polymer piezoelectric film 1 around a center line '0' of a lower layer substantially in a cylindrical shape and then connecting a gap (d) of butted parts, for example, by epoxy series adhesive 4. The piezoelectric element includes, for example, vinylidene cyanide-vinyl acetate copolymer, etc. The electrode is formed by weaving metal wires of copper, aluminum, etc., in a mesh state.
