Title:
CYLINDRICAL LINEAR MOTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS56112871
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make a piston rod operate at superslow speed efficiently by giving a thrust to liquid metal by a moving magnetic field generated by a stator coil and by moving the piston rod through the intermediary of a plunger. CONSTITUTION:A partition wall 3 is provided in the central part of a cylinder 1 through the intermediary of a gap 2, while the plungers 6 and 6' are provided on both sides of the wall through the intermediary of parts 4 and 4' and the piston rod 5 piercing slidably through the central part of the partition wall 3 is fitted to the plungers. Moreover, the parts 4 and 4' communicated with each other through the gap 2 are filled up with liquid metal 7, while a stator 8 having coils 9 and 9' is provided in the outer-peripheral part of the gap 2. Accordingly, the piston rod 5 can be moved to the right and left by giving the thrust to the liquid metal 7 at the gap 2 by the moving magnetic field generated by excitation current given to the coils 9 and 9', and further the superslow operation of the piston rod 5 can be obtained by setting the cross-sectional area of the gap 2 appropriately.
