PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical outer surface scanner capable of checking the Y size of a press plate before a punching processing by a punch unit is performed, and its method.
SOLUTION: When the press plate P is supplied to the front part (a punch unit 4 side) of a movable pin 113, the upper side roller of a carrying roller 125 is lowered and the carrying rollers 124 and 125 and a carrying belt 111 start normal rotation. When the press plate P is carried and gets out of the detection range of a sensor PH159, the movable pin 113 moves following the rear end part of the press plate P with a fixed distance. Then, when the tip part of the press plate P reaches the punch unit 4, the following movable pin 113 pushes out the rear end part of the press plate P and the tip part of the press plate P is abutted to the punch unit 4. Simultaneously with the abutting, the Y size of the press plate P is judged on the basis of the moving amount of the movable pin 113 from an origin position to the present position of pushing the rear end part of the press plate P.
