Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To not only fix an electrode group to a battery case by using a spacer but also suppress pressure rise in a battery, by facilitating absorption of oxygen gas generated during the charging into a negative electrode plate, in a cylindrical battery where it is not required to take the winding displacement into account.SOLUTION: A cylindrical battery includes a cylindrical battery case 2, an electrode group 3 arranged in the battery case 2 and consisting of a positive electrode 31, a negative electrode 32 and a separator 33, where a pair of outside surfaces facing each other have a planar shape and the negative electrode 32 is exposed to the outside surface, and a spacer 6 provided between an inside peripheral surface 2A of the battery case 2 and the outside surface of the electrode group 3, and having an electrode contact portion 6A in contact with the substantially entire surface of the outside surface. The electrode contact portion 6A of the spacer 6 is smaller than the area of the negative electrode 32 exposed to the outside surface.
