Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase a damping force at the time of low speed of a piston at a compression stroke without sacrificing an elongation damping force and to increase an adjustment free degree of a compression damping force characteristic at this time in a cylindrical shock absorber.
CONSTITUTION: This shock absorber is provided with a first valve 58 for generating a damping force at an elongation stroke and a second valve 62 for generating a damping force at a compression stroke. The shock absorber is further provided with an inner cylinder 20 in which a piston portion 14 slides on an inner surface and a first oil chamber 16 and a second oil chamber 18 are defined by the piston portion 14, an outer cylinder 12 forming a third oil chamber 26 at the outside of the inner cylinder 20, a piston rod 20 coupled to the piston portion 14 and penetrating through the first oil chamber 16, a cylindrical piston rod fixed to the piston rod 20 and entering/retreating into the third oil chamber 26, a first reservoir chamber 24 communicating with the second oil chamber 18, and a second reservoir chamber 30 communicating with the third oil chamber 26. A first valve 58 is provided on the piston portion 14 and a second valve 62 is provided on a communication passage of the first and second reservoir chambers, respectively.
