Abstract:
PURPOSE: To easily and accurately detect the damage of a tool, by discriminating the frequency components of 50W500kHz of acoustic emission signal produced due to machining.
CONSTITUTION: A detector 1 is attached to a tool or a machine tool. An acoustic emission signal is detected by an acoustic emission signal measuring unit. The detected signal is applied to a frequency discriminator 3 through an amplifier 2 to pick out only freuqency components of 50W500kHz. The frequency components are applied to a comparator 4. When the magnitude of the components exceeds a reference value, an alarm 5 is driven.
