To provide a dampening device of an offset printing machine which can prevent dampening water from being supplied excessively to a dampening roller by a small number of rollers and make uniform the thickness of a water film formed on the surface of the dampening roller.
This dampening device comprises (1) a water tank 2 where the dampening water 1 is stored, (2) a water fountain roller 5 which rotates inside the water tank 2, (3) a dampening roller 5 which rotates in contact with a printing plate 23 wound around a plate cylinder 22, and (4) a water transfer roller which rotates in contact with the water fountain roller 3 and the dampening roller 5, and transfers the dampening water sticking to the water fountain roller 3, to the dampening roller 5. In this device, a reciprocating motion mechanism which reciprocates the water transfer roller 4 in the axial direction, and a water fountain roller oscillating mechanism which brings the water fountain roller 3 into contact with the water transfer roller 4 and sets these rollers apart from each other by oscillating the water fountain roller 3 pivoting at an axis in parallel with the shaft of the water transfer roller 4.
