PURPOSE: To obtain a sufficient strength and a high dimensional accuracy even if the radial and axial sizes of the damper are large by forming the second cylinder of high conductivity at the bore or profile side of the first cylinder by coating.
CONSTITUTION: A damper 1 for a superconducting generator is formed in a composite structure by directly plating the second cylinder 2 (outer cylinder) of high conductivity metal such as copper, copper alloy at the outer peripheral side of the first cylinder 1 (inner cylinder) made of high strength nonmagnetic metal. The cylinder 2 of the high strength nonmagnetic metal having high rigidity is an integral cylinder. Thus, the plated surface of the outer surface of the cylinder 2 is easily coated with copper plating. The bondability of the coated layer to the high strength nonmagnetic metal of a base material can be enhanced to increase the bonding strength and the close contact force.
