Title:
DAMPER WITH SAFETY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10252799
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a damper having a fail safe mechanism to prevent the occurrence of a serous situation when an abnormal force is exerted on a rod during fixing of a piston.

A damper 1 comprises a damper body 10 having an oil chamber; a piston 25; and a piston rod 21. A safety device is provided to cause free movement of the piton rod 21 to the damper body 10 when an abnormal force is exerted on the piston rod 21. When an abnormal axial force is exerted between the rod 21 and the piston 25, a spring 75 is pressed by a ball 67 for contraction. In which case, the ball 67 is sunk in a ball hole 71, and slipped off from a ball groove 65. Thereby, the piston 25 and the rod 21 are in a state as axially relatively movable.
