To reduce the manufacturing cost of a piston of a cylinder piston type damper.
A damper assembly has a piston main body having a piston assembly and manufactured by a powder metal method. In one embodiment, a compression passage 80 and an extension passage 82 have the S-shape, and their inlets 88, 92 are located at a radial outer side with respect to their outlets 90, 94. A compression check valve 60 and an extension check valve 64 are constituted in such manner that they cover only the outlets 90 94, and are radially extended so that the inlets 88, 92 are not affected thereby. In the other embodiment, the compression passage and the extension passage are straight, and compression and extension sealing lands are respectively located between the inlet and the outlet in a state of surrounding them, so that only the outlets are sealed, and the inlets are not affected thereby.
