Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a damping alloy having excellent damping property in accordance with temp. change, by annealing at a specific temp. an alloy steel contg. elements having performance for improving damping property, e.g., Cr, Mo, Si.

CONSTITUTION: An alloy steel comprising 8W25 % Cr, 1W4 % Si, 0.2W3 % Mo, < 0.06 % C, in addn., 0.5W3 % Ni, if necessary. An alloy steel of above described composition is melted and cast into ingot in a high frequency induction furnace, and the ingot is hot forged to manufacture a product. The product is annealed at a temp. 600W1,300°C to give excellent damping property, stength, rust proofing property, and machinability. Further addn. of 0.5W3 % Ni more improves strength, and rust proofing property.
