To improve the reliability of a multistage centrifugal compressor by facilitating the disassembly and assembly of a damping bearing used for the multistage centrifugal compressor.
This centrifugal compressor has a plurality of centrifugal impellers fitted to a rotating shaft 10 and supported by two radial bearings and thrust bearings. The rotating shaft 10, the centrifugal impellers and each bearing are accommodated in a casing. The radial bearing is a damping bearing and has a tilting pad type bearing 8 which is a first bearing member opposed to the rotating shaft 10, an inner holder 5, and a holder 4 which is a second bearing member 4 disposed on the outer peripheral side of the first bearing and forming a second lubricating face 33 between the first bearing member and the second bearing member 4. A clearance of the lubricating face 33 can be easily measured by attaching and detaching a side plate 7.
