Title:
DAMPING DEVICE FOR MACHINE TOOL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001030128
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a damping device to prevent propagation of external vibration to a machine tool and be capable of damping even internal vibration occasioned by movement of a moving body.

This damping device comprises a first damping means 2 consisting of an external member 3 formed of a hollow rigid body and an internal member 4 disposed in the external member 3 and coupled to the external member 3 through an elastic body 5 and placed on a bed; and a second damping means 6 disposed within the external member 3 and below the internal member 4 and provided with a support member 8 situated in a state to make contact with and separate away from the under surface of the internal member 4. During a cutting feed of a moving body, vibration of a machine tool due to external vibration is prevented by the first damping means 2 through separation of the support member 8 from the under surface of the internal member 4. During a rapid feed of the moving body, vibration of the machine tool due to movement of the moving body is prevented from occurring by the second damping means 6 through contact of the support member 8 with the under surface of the internal member 4.
