Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make it possible to damp horizontal vibrations in any arbitrary direction by driving a pair of damping gyro device.
CONSTITUTION: A damping gyro device A provides a rotator 1 whose rotary shaft 2 is laid out horizontally and whose both ends are pivotally supported on a frame 3. A support shaft of the device is designed to cross the rotary shaft 2 of the rotator 1. A support beam in the lower part is connected to an electric motor and an inclinometer. A pair of gyro devices A of this constitution are installed in such a fashion that the rotary shaft 2 of the rotor 1 on one side is directed to the axis of X while the rotary shaft 2 of the rotor 1 on the other side is directed to the axis of Y. A controller 8 determines an angular velocity based on signals transmitted from a speed meter 11 and an inclinometer 9 and provides a drive signal equivalent to the angular velocity to an electric motor 6.
