Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide possibility to change greatly the width of adjustment for the damping force by installing extra expansion side and compression side damping valves in series to those expansion side and compression side damping valves which have been furnished in parallel with the piston, and by shortcircuiting the oil line connecting the two expansion side damping valve with the two compression side damping valves selectively to the oil chamber using a selector valve. CONSTITUTION:When an operating rod 7 is turned, a selector valve 16 opens a by-pass port 20 to put the oil line 19 in communication with the oil chamber B. Accordingly, when the compression side is in service the working oil in oil chamber B flows to the oil chamber A through the oil line 19 from a by-pass port 20, which has a smaller resistance than No.2 compression side damping valve 18, which pushing open No.1 compression side damping valve 5, so that a comparatively low damping characteristic is obtained. When the selector valve 16 closes the by-pass port 20, on the other hand, the oil line 19 is put out of communication with the oil chamber B. Therefore when the compression side is in service, for ex., the working oil in the oil chamber B flows into the oil chamber A by pushing open No.2 and No.1 compression side damping valves 18, 5, and this passage of two damping valves can cause generation of high damping force.
