Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the excessive increase of a damping force due to choking of a filter to capture a foreign matter in working oil.
SOLUTION: A piston 3 is fitted in a cylinder 2 and connected to a reservoir 6. A cylinder upper chamber 2a and a reservoir 6 are intercommunicated through a main passage 11 having a main damping valve 12. An auxiliary passage 14 bypassing a main damping valve 12 is connected to the main passage 11. A fixed orifice 15, a filter 16, and a damping force regulating valve 17 are provided and the pilot line 18 of a main damping valve 12 is connected to a portion situated downstream from the filter 16. By changing the flow passage area of the damping force regulating valve 17, flow resistance of the auxiliary passage 14 is directly regulated and a pilot pressure introduced from a pilot line 18, the opening pressure of the main damping valve 12 is regulated. When the filter 16 is choked, a flow of oil liquid is ensured by the main passage 11. Further, since a pilot pressure is lowered and the opening pressure of the main damping valve 12 is decreased, a damping force is kept at a properly a low value.
