Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain an initial vibration damping force even if slide surfaces of a sliding plate and a friction plate which constitute a friction damper, are worn. By supressing the reduction of friction force between them. with simple structure.
SOLUTION: A beam connection is welded to the beam connecting part of a steel column, and the connection end of a steel beam 12 is coupled thereto. The connection end of the steel beam 12 is butted against the end of the beam connection, and reinforcing plates 18 are placed across the surface of the ends. A bolt 20 is passed between the reinforcing plates 18 and tightened with a nut 22. A loose hole 26 is formed in the part of the steel beam 12 through which the bolt 22 is passed to permit the horizontal relative movements of the steel beam 12 and the beam connection. A set of coned springs 28 applying pressure contact forces is provided between the reinforcing plates 18 and the steel beam 12 to constitute a friction damper 24. A set pressure contact force applied to the set of coned springs 28 is set so that the friction damper 24 operates within a nonlinear spring region wherein the fluctuation of resilient forces is small relative to the deflection of the set of coned springs 28.
