Title:
DAMPING STRUCTURE USING CONED DISC SPRING TYPE FRICTION DAMPER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3791133
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a building frame permanently from vibration by producing an almost constant friction-damping force even if the amount of deformation of a spring is varied as the result of deformation of the building frame due to external factors and of the wear of a friction material, etc.
SOLUTION: A friction damper 20 interposed between an upper beam 14 and the coupling part 18a of a brace comprises a friction damping force generating part 26, which consists of a pair of slide plates 22, 22 arranged in vertically- oriented, parallel positions and supported against the upper beam 14 and a friction material 24 inserted between the slide plates 22, 22 to slide and project from the coupling part 18a, and a coned disc spring 28 which presses the slide plates 22, 22 in the direction to move them closer together, to produce a resilient force whereby a pressure contact force is produced in the friction damping force generating part 26. The coned disc spring 28 is set to be deflected at the application of the set contact pressure, within a nonlinear spring area where fluctuation of the resilient force is small relative to the amount of change in the direction of its central axis.
