Abstract:
To distribute the quantity of damping solution applied to a printing plate by comparing a target value and an actual value and regulating the quantity according to the difference between them.
A damping unit for a printer includes a means for applying a damping solution to the printing plate, and a means for regulating the quantity of damping solution applied. At least one sensor is provided for detecting the quantity of damping solution actually applied to the printing plate. By means of a comparison with a predefined quantity of damping solution, as a reference value, the quantity of damping solution on the printing plate can be regulated.
