PURPOSE: To enhance maintenance in order to prevent the clogging or the like of a cylindrical filter performing the gravitational filtering and defoaming of damping water under atmospheric pressure.
CONSTITUTION: The lowermost part of the casing 10 arranged to the upper part of a tank 3 is immersed in damping water and a damping water return port 12 and a water passing port 13 returning filtered damping water to the tank are provided above the surface of the damping water. A plate-shaped filter is rounded to be received in a filter casing 22 and the mating part of both side edges of the filter is formed to a cylindrical side surface. By this constitution, the damping water returned from a water tray is stored inside the filter and enters the interior of the filter by the atmospheric pressure applied to the surface of the returned damping water at this time to be filtered and bubbles generated at the same time are also separated. When the whole of the filter is clogged, the pressure inside the filter rises and the mating part of the filter is opened and, from this part, the returned damping water exudes along with bubbles without being filtered. The state of the bubbles is visually observed from an external inspection window 14 to judge the replacing or washing period of the filter.
