A system is constituted of a server, which holds the authentication data registered from a client and the client connected to the server, and the client, who has a data reading means for authentication and transfers the authentication data input from an authentication data input means to an authentication server in preset timing of authentication. The system collates the authentication data with authentication data transmitted from the client and transmits its result to the client. The above system is also constituted so that, when the authentication is performed by the server once and it is judged that the result is an identical person, the authentication data registered in the server is transmitted to the client, the data is held in the client and the authentication data held in the client is compared with input authentication data in authentication afterward.
