To provide a data communication equipment which can easily transmit a selection signal other than a destination telephone number in the case of transmitting the selection signal for data communication after connection to a telephone line.

The data communication equipment connected to the telephone line and transmitting the selection signal for data communication is provided with; a command interpret means 3 for interpreting a command to instruct generation of the selection signal of a destination telephone number from a host terminal 11 and interpreting a command to instruct the generation of the selection signal of a prefix number from the host terminal by referencing a prefix number table; a selection signal generating means 4 generating the selection signal interpreted by the command interpret means 3; and a line control means 5 transmitting the selection signal generated by the selection signal generating means 4 to the telephone line.
