Abstract:

PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for communication by providing a transmission(reception) opposite terminal information file for storing and holding terminal characteristics of the opposite terminal to (or from) which data is sent (received) once and information on its transmitting (receiving) ability. CONSTITUTION:A mixed-mode terminal interchanges a procedure for determining a transmission mode with the opposite terminal before transmitting or receiving original data. In this procedure interchange, terminal characteristics and information on a data format and attributes are interchanged. The information on those terminal characteristics and the format and attributes to be handled is not sent or received for each communication. Communication line information which includes the information on the terminal characteristics, and data format and attributes of the opposite terminal to or from which data is sent or received once, terminal by terminal, is stored on a memory such as a hard disk device 50 or floppy disk device 51 as indexes. Then, it is read on a program memory 23 when used.
