PURPOSE: To attain inexpensive and two-way communication and to count the operating time and stop time of a copying machine by providing an adaptor collecting a data of a copying machine (PPC) 4 and bringing the communication to send collecting data to a telephone line as required into two-way communication with a separate power supply from the copying machine.

CONSTITUTION: A center equipment 2 receives a data from the adaptor 1 sent via a telephone line to apply analysis, diagnosis and check or the like. The system phone 3 is used for the connection with a telephone line the same as the adaptor 1. The CPU 11 of the adaptor 1 classifies, counts, collects the various information coming from the copying machine 4 to apply the control of parallel communication with the copying machine 4 and the control of serial communication with the system phone 3 through an RS-232C. A dual port RAM 12 is a buffer for the communication between the CPU 11 and the copying machine 4. The parallel I/O port 13 and the serial port 14 are data input/output and control signal ports for interfacing with the RS-232C. Since a separate power supply is used for the copying machine 4 from that of the adaptor 1, they are both isolated by using the bus driver receiver of the open collector system.
