Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain data to be written without stopping the input/output of data when a hot line is inserted or pulled out and to improve reliability by comparing data read from a disk with maintained data and writing and returning the maintained data on the disk when the data are different.
SOLUTION: A disk array controller 12 performs mapping processing and redundant data generation/check buffer management of disks 40 to 4N which are connected a subordinate I/F 70, executes data transfer itself which reads from and writes to each disk 40 to 4N without the intervention of a central processing unit 10 and maintains write data in memory 11. When a write instruction occurs in an address area that is the same with maintenance data, it updates the maintenance data, reads and compares data of an address which corresponds to the maintenance data and detects that a hot line of any of the disks 40 to 4N is inserted or pulled out through the subordinate I/F 70.
