Each of respective predetermined background colors is allotted to the approval state flag contained in the managed data read from a data base on the basis of a predetermined selection condition. At the time of display of the predetermined color on a screen, character data is displayed by setting the color to a background at every line corresponding to each of files. By this constitution, the operator can intuitively recognize the approval state of the file.
