In a data processing system where a plurality of data processing nodes are connected to a communication channel in a given topology, the data processing apparatus at a data processing node has a communication function of reproducing a received clock signal based on a received signal, reproducing the received data from the received signal in a received data reproduction unit (122) in synchronism with the received clock signal thus reproduced, generating the transmission data for the received data thus reproduced in a transmission data generation unit (123), and generating a transmission signal from the transmission data in a transmission unit (125) and then transmitting the transmission signal to the communication channel in synchronism with a transmission clock signal. Furthermore, the data processing node has a detection unit (124) which detects the error time when the processing time is short for the permitted time until the transmission signal is transmitted from the transmission unit after a signal is received at the received data reproduction unit. The transmission unit starts transmission of the transmission data after an elapse of the error time detected in the detection unit.
