PURPOSE: To increase the processing speed and to reduce the used capacity of a memory by providing a data transfer device having a function which detects unnecessary records not to transfer them while collectively transferring plural records.

CONSTITUTION: The pattern of a deletion record is preliminarily set to collectively transfer plural records from a host computer 1 to the memory of a data processor 2 without passing a CPU 3 of the data processor 2. This pattern indicating the deletion record is determined by an input file, and it is set to the head of each record before data is transferred to the data processor main body 2. The record length of records to be the processing object and the pattern indicating the deletion record can be set by the CPU 3 of the data processor main body 2 before the start of data transfer to send data on them, and a data transfer device 5 is used to collectively transfer records from the host computer 1 to the memory of the data processor main body 2 after setting.
