To obtain a data receiver recovering binary data based on the presence of pulse edge variation synchronized with a reference clock of constant period in which recovery accuracy of data is enhanced.
For a pulse train signal representative of binary data having specified information, a pulse time width T after an edge is detected for the first time (S220: Y) and detection of 1 bit data is started before next edge is detected (S250: Y) is determined (S260). If it is equal to two periods (i.e., 1 bit) Tb of reference clock, bit 1 is determined (S280), and if it is equal to one period of reference clock Tb/2 and one half pulse has been determined already (S310), bit 0 is determined (S270: Y, S320). If the time T is not equal to Tb nor Tb/2, an assumption is made that an erroneous edge variation has occurred and the time Te from that erroneous edge variation to next edge variation is measured (S340-S360). If the Te is smaller than a predetermined threshold value Th, both the measured erroneous edge and the next edge are invalidated.
