PURPOSE: To obtain a data receiver capable of utilizing reception signals received in plural systems and peforming decoding with high error correction gain.
CONSTITUTION: This receiver is provided with reception systems 1a and 1 for demodulating data signals from the same information source and respectively outputting soft decision signals related to the sampled values of obtaind demodulated base band signals, a soft decision decoding part 2 for using a signal closest to a reception code point among all the soft decision signals and performing soft decision error correcting and decoding, the reception systems 3a and 3b for outputting the hard decision signals of the obtained demodulated base band signals, hard decision decoding parts 5a and 5b for performing error correcting and decoding based on the hard decision signals and a control part 4 for performing connection control between the reception systems and the hard decision decoding parts based on likelihood information indicating the degree of similarity between the reception code point and the soft decision signals related to the respective sampled values of the demoulated base band signals, The hard decision signal corresponding to the largest likelihood information is added to the hard decision decoding parts when a difference among the likelihood information is larger than prescribed and the respective hard decision signals are added to the respectively corresponding hard decision decoding parts when the difference is less than prescribed.
