In a data recording method, observed values obtained by means of a sensor are plotted; when a segment line formed by connecting the observed values of continuous time intersects with a reference line, an intersecting clock time of the segment line and the reference line is computed; the computed intersecting clock times are arranged and the time period between the adjacent clock times is computed so as to obtain a time period sequence; a first label sequence is generated, in such a manner that each time period in the time period sequence is replace by a corresponding first label, on the basis of first correlation information in which a range of the values of the time period is correlated with the first label; a pattern identification element of a first sequence pattern which matches the first label sequence is acquired from a predetermined pattern database; and a set of the acquired pattern identification element and the intersecting clock time at the top in an intersecting time clock sequence is stored in a memory as the pattern information.
