Abstract:
To provide a data storage device that efficiently manages buffer areas for high-speed write operations, and an operating method thereof.SOLUTION: In a data processing system, a data storage device that operates according to a requirement of a host device includes a storage unit 140 and a controller 130. The storage unit has a plurality of storage areas and stores data. The controller programs write data to a first area of the plurality of storage areas, with a priority over a second area of the plurality of storage areas, and transfers data in the first area to the second area. Further, the controller adjusts a size of the first area based on the number of times the first area is saturated when the size of the write data written to the first area is larger than a set size, and a write data overflow size corresponding to a difference between the size of the write data written to the first area and the set size. The number of bits that can be stored per cell in the first area is less than that in the second area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
