This reconstruction control method for controlling a reconstruction operation of the stored data in a data storage device having a redundant storage area for processed data includes a process for reading a maximum value of a logical address accessed after initialization, and a process for executing the reconstruction process using the maximum value of the logical address as an upper limit when executing the reconstruction process of the stored data accompanying with replacement of a failure portion. Thus, access to the logical address having no stored data which should be reconstructed can be eliminated.
