A data transmission system for a display device comprises: an encoder which has at least one conversion table and encodes data of m bits (m is a natural number) into data of n bits (n is a natural number, n>m) on the basis of the conversion table; a clock reproduction circuit which reproduces a clock from the data encoded by the encoder; a decoder which decodes the encoded data of n bits into the data of m bits in response to the clock reproduced by the clock reproduction circuit; and an output driver which outputs a gradation voltage corresponding to the data decoded by the decoder. In the conversion table, for a bit pattern with a larger amplitude of the gradation voltage among 2m bit patterns for the data of m bits, a bit pattern having a larger data change index is allocated among 2n bit patterns for the data of n bits.
