PURPOSE: To realize a DC-DC converter circuit in which a charging operation can be performed with high efficiency by a small coil and to obtain a small and lightweight inductive load drive device.
CONSTITUTION: An inductive load drive device uses a DC-DC converter circuit formed as follows: a coil L and a switch SW are installed in series with a power supply E; the switch SW is closed; a power-supply voltage is applied to the coil L; the switch SW is opened in succession; magnetic energy stored in the coil L is charged in a capacitor C in parallel with the switch SW; and a high voltage is obtained. In the inductive-load drive device, a permanent magnet Mg is used as a magnetic core for the coil L, a bias is opposite to that of a magnetic flux is given by a current, and the magnetic energy in the coil L is increased.
