To provide a DC motor in which a varistor is easy to assemble, the rate of the occurrence of defective products is low, and the number of assembling process is less, and to provide a commutator assembling method.
The DC motor includes a commutator 27 consisting of a cylindrical insulation member 29 fixed on a rotating shaft 23 and a plurality of segments 28 fixed on the circumferential surface of the insulation member 29. The commutator 27 includes a varistor 50 of a plate shape having a hole 50a through which the rotating shaft 23 can be passed, adhesives 51 which have conductivity and are applied intermittently around the hole 50a of the varistor 50 corresponding to the arrangement of the segments 28, and protruding portions 52 and recessed portions 53 as positioning means which position the varistor 50 in the circumferential direction of the insulation members 29 and match the application positions of the adhesives 51 to the end surface 28a of each segment 28.
