To provide a DC motor that softens the impact on a flat-type commutator as being rotated.

A DC motor includes: an armature core 31, windings 32, a flat-type commutator 33, and brushes 29. The armature core 31 is provided rotatably with respect to a stator, and has a plurality of teeth 31a that extend radially and are arranged circumferentially. The windings 32 are wound around the respective teeth 31a. The flat-type commutator 33 is provided so as to be rotatable together with the armature core 31. The commutator 33 has a plurality of segments 34 that are arranged circumferentially and are connected electrically to the respective windings 32, and an insulating member 35 that holds the segments 34. The commutator 33 is held in such a manner that a surface of each segment 34 opposite to a slide-contact surface 34a thereof for contact with the brushes 29 is in contact with an end surface of a disk portion 35a of the insulating member 35. The brushes 29 are held with respect to the stator, and are pressed into contact with the slide-contact surfaces 34a of the segments 34. Each of the slide-contact surfaces 34a has an inclined portion 34f that is inclined in a radial direction as seen from an axial direction. Thus, each slide-contact surface 34a is provided so as to have an area of radial contact with the brushes 29 along with the rotation increasing gradually from zero.
