To improve the responsiveness of a DC torque motor by giving such angle-torque characteristics that the positive peak torque of the motor is distributed unevenly on the smaller angle side in the operating angle range of the motor, and the negative peak torque is unevenly distributed on the larger angle side in the operating angle range.
A DC torque motor generates a positive oscillating torque T, when a positive coil current Ic is made to flow in the operating angle range of θ=45°-135° and a negative oscillating torque T, when a negative coil current Ic is made to flow. For this motor having the maximum coil current of Ic=±5A, the peak of the oscillating torque T is distributed unevenly on a smaller angle θ side (for example, the peak torque is distributed in the range of θ=50°-80°, when Ic=5A) when the positive coil current Ic is relatively large (Ic=2 to 5 A). When the negative coil current Ic is relatively large (Ic=-1 to -5A), the negative peak of the oscillating torque T is unevenly distributed on the larger angle θ side (for example, the peak torque is distributed in the range of θ=95°-135°, when Ic=-5A).
